Social pressure is one of the key tool used in marketing: “If you don’t have our product you are not in”. If you are convinced that everybody else is doing it, you start to feel a hurge to do so. Have you ever heard a kid tell her parents “I need to go to XX, because everyone is doing it ” that is social pressure. The more people use or do a thing the more other people feel pressured to do the same. That explains partially why it is more easy to become more popular than become popular.
